Professional Tooth Whitening

Are you concerned about stained teeth or discoloured teeth? Would you like a brighter, whiter smile. If the answer is yes, then Professional Tooth Whitening could be the solution for you. At the 1 Dental Clinic you could benefit from a variety of tooth whitening options, which could put confidence back into your smile. So how does it work?

Professional teeth whitening uses a clinically safe amount of bleaching peroxide to remove stains and lessen discoloration that could have occurred through diet, through certain medications or just through age. The peroxide comes in the form of a gel which is applied to your teeth by a trained, qualified dental professional. There are 2 main types of tooth whitening - home whitening and light-activated whitening - the latter often being referrs to as laser whitening, power whitening or in-surgery whitening.

Home whitening involves the use of custom-made whitening trays. A whitening gel is placed into these trays, which are subsequently worn for a few hours in the day or throughout the night in the comfort of your own home. The usual prescription is usually for 2-3 weeks, with severe discolouration often requiring more.
Light-activated whitening is carried out within our dental practice. Your lips and gums are protected with a barrier, the whitening gel is then applied to the teeth and activated with a special light. After just an hour of treatment your teeth will appear several shades brighter. Power whitening is carried out in the dental chair. Your lips and gums are protected with a barrier. A whitening gel is then applied to your teeth and activated using a UV light. After just an hour of treatment, your teeth will appear several shades brighter.

In both cases great results can be obtained in relatively quick time-scales. So whether it is for a special event, perhaps a birthday or wedding, or maybe you would like to treat yourself, don’t hesitate to contact us for a consultation to discuss whether tooth whitening could be the solution for you.
